AXA Global Healthcare — an independent reference profile
Insurer profile · not a ranking
The international health business of AXA, the French insurance group.
The shape of the offer
What their plans are like.
Worldwide individual plans with the standard area-of-cover tiers, plus virtual care services that matter more in remote destinations than the brochure suggests.
We keep this section general on purpose. Plan names, limits and premiums move every year, and a page pretending otherwise would be quietly wrong within one renewal cycle. The specifics belong in your report, dated, against your situation.
The structure, dated · facts checked 2026-08-01
What their published material actually says.
Everything below was read from the carrier's own pages and documents on2026-08-01 — specifically the UK/global personal brochure (Oct 2025 reference) and axaglobalhealthcare.com. Where their materials do not state something, this page says so rather than filling the gap. No premiums appear here because premiums are personal quotes, and no verdicts because this page ranks nothing.
| Tier | Published maximum | The note that matters |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | £250,000 / yr | no outpatient unless upgraded; no USA emergency cover |
| Standard | £1,000,000 / yr | outpatient optional; USA emergency 6 weeks up to £10,000 |
| Comprehensive | £1,500,000 / yr | chronic-illness routine follow-up starts here |
| Prestige | £2,000,000 / yr | routine pregnancy and palliative care from this tier |
| Prestige Plus | £5,000,000 / yr | routine dental included; USA emergency 10 weeks up to £30,000 |
| Area of cover / USA | Worldwide, or worldwide excluding the USA — and on most plans the excluding choice still keeps emergency USA cover, capped by tier (none on Foundation, up to 10 weeks/£30,000 on Prestige Plus). |
| Underwriting | Three bases in the carrier’s own words: fully underwritten; moratorium (conditions from the last five years excluded until two continuous trouble-free member years); or continued medical exclusions on transfer. From age 80, only FMU or transfer bases. |
| Renewability | Annual plans, with no lifetime-renewal guarantee published. AXA does state that making a claim will not by itself put your premium up — premiums still move with age and inflation, which the carrier says in the same breath. |
| Evacuation | Core on all five tiers; AXA arranges evacuation to the nearest appropriate facility and back. |
| Cost-sharing | Excess levels from £100 to £2,000 per person per year (to £10,000 on Standard without the outpatient upgrade). |
| Network & claims | AXA Select Medical Network (AXA publishes no provider count for it, unlike most of this set); the carrier states over 80% of eligible claims are paid within 48 hours; virtual doctor and second-opinion services on all plans. |
| Distributor & regulator | AXA Global Healthcare (UK) Ltd, FCA-regulated, and AXA Global Healthcare (EU) Ltd, Central Bank of Ireland. The current underwriter-panel allocation is stated only on a dated intermediary page, so we do not print it. |

Where else you will see this name
One of seven in an independent benchmark.
The SIP Health Cost Index 2025 prices comparable international cover across fifty countries, and AXA Global Healthcare is one of the seven insurers it quotes — the Prestige Plus plan, on worldwide excluding usa.
Two things that does not mean. It is not a shortlist: the index needed a consistent basket of globally operating insurers to price countries with, and its authors state twice that it does not compare the seven against one another. And it is not a verdict on price — the seven plans differ in benefits, cover area, service levels and medical network, so a lower figure is a different product rather than a better deal. What the index is genuinely useful for is the question underneath it: what a country costs.
